You have seen on TV and heard it on the radio. Low testosterone levels or Low T. Few men do not suffer from and we just blame on getting old. I can do what I used to do. Well that is BS and I’m here to tell you can fight it. The technical name is Andropause or male menopause, sometimes called manopause. It is referring to a set of effects that appears in most aging men, and which have some superficial similarities to menopause effects in women.
Andropause may be related to the slow but steady reduction of the production of the hormones testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone in middle-aged men, and the consequences of that reduction.
Unlike menopause, the andropause is currently not recognized by the World Health Organization. While the words are sometimes used interchangeably, hypogonadism is a deficiency state in which the hormone testosterone goes below the normal range for even an aging male. But who cares about the normal ranging age. I do not want tobe normal. I’m close to 50 and play full contact flag-football. Don’t think it is not physical, look it up on youtube. Some of the hardest hitting you will see and you have no pads. Every game someone tells me and my other team mates who are in their forties and fifties, but they do not say that after we win. Out of the past years in our league we hace won 18 championships. Our average age is 38.
The impact of low levels of testosterone has been previously reported. The symptoms of what is labeled the “male climacteric” including loss of libido and potency, nervousness, depression, impaired memory, the inability to concentrate, fatigue, insomnia, hot flushes, and sweating. If it were not serious you would not see the need to Viagra, Cialis, and other sexual drugs. This only treats the symptoms not the cause. Subjects that had lower than normal levels of testosterone symptoms decreased dramatically when patients were given replacement doses of testosterone.
So why waste time with the prescription penis pills, lets get mens testosterone back up to higher levels. I love to hear the bullshit of “We do not know of the long term side effect.” Hey idiot I have been on testosterone for 50 years. I’m a man. So what your saying is you do not know of any side effects.
Andropause has been observed in association with Alzheimer’s disease. In one study, 98.0% of primary care physicians believed that andropause and osteoporosis risk were related. The term “symptomatic late onset hypogonadism” is sometimes considered to refer to the same condition as the word andropause. Some researchers prefer the term androgen deficiency. The loss of testosterone production is gradual and asymptotic[ in contrast to the more abrupt change associated with menopause.
Proponents of andropause as a distinct condition claim that it is a biological change experienced by men during mid-life, and often compare it to female menopause. Menopause, however, is a complete cessation of reproductive ability caused by the shutting down of the female reproductive system. Bull hell if you have not sex drive and can not get an erection, guess what, you are not reproducive. Andropause is a decline in the male hormone testosterone. This drop in testosterone levels is considered to lead in some cases to erectile dysfunction, diabetes, loss of energy and concentration, depression, and mood swings. So maybe while andropause does not cause a man’s reproductive system to stop working altogether, many experience bouts of impotence.
The theory is that andropause is caused by a very gradual testosterone deficiency and an increase in sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) that occurs from age 40 onwards. By contrast, women have a more rapid onset of menopause at an average age of 51. Testosterone declines 10% every decade after age 30 (1% per year).
What is known as premature andropause is theorized to occur in males who experience excessive female hormone stimulation through workplace exposure to estrogen.
By their mid 50s, about 30 % of men experience andropause. It is thought that about 5 million American men do not produce adequate testosterone, which leads to early andropause. The most likely males to develop early andropause are those with diabetes, hypertension, and genetic disorders that produce hypogonadism.
Clinicians are of the opinion that andropause is simply synonymous with hypogonadism or low testosterone levels. There is opposition to the concept of andropause.
Some clinicians argue that many of the cited symptoms are not specific enough to warrant describing a new condition. While it is true that active and otherwise healthy men could in theory develop andropause. I think just because it is men Dr’s do not want to accept it.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Testosterone levels in men decline graduallly, the clinical significance of this decrease is debated. Previously, age-related decreases in free testosterone were once accepted as normal, but just because they are considered normal does not mean it should be accepted. Patients with borderline testosterone levels warrant a blood test. Muscle mass and strength do decline when testosterone drops low and libido will dampen with relatively small decreases in the hormone. I know this for sure. As a man I wanted to “Get Busy” every night, but when I got to my forties I would go days without some actions. Dr blamed it on kids, work, old age WTF. Once a I Started taking Testatrol, guess what, I back to my old self and wanting some sack time every night again and I do not care what has been on my plate that day.
Testosterone can be measured as “free” (that is, bioavailable and unbound). In the United States, male total testosterone levels below 300 ng/dL from a morning serum sample are generally considered low. Testosterone supplemental therapy can come in the form of herbal supplements, topical gels, patches, and injections. Injections can cost up to $300 a month and many doctor visits. Testosterone supplemental therapy can also increase a sense of well being, muscle mass and strength, and bone density in men.
So men if you feel you are suffering from low testosterone you owe it you yourself and your partner to check out a herbal supplement first. It costs less, takes less time, safer, and if it does not work as well as you like you can always speak with your Dr about injections or gels that you have to rub on everyday.
