There is just too many to choose from. An entire row at the grocery or supplement store with nothing but vitamin and mineral supplements coming in all forms, tablet, capsule, chewable, liquid…what should you do? Which is best?
You have one a day, two a day, AM and PM formulas, time release formulas, and I have seen taking as much as 4-6 a day depending on your activity level. Well, if you have been a little confused and are looking for a better solution, here are a few tips to get you started.
- Solubility- This refers to how much of each dose you actually receive. Based on the form the vitamin is in, there may be a lot of binders and fillers that hold the tablet together and this makes it difficult to digest. Binders and fillers can be found in the additional ingredients such as partially hydrogenated oils. Liquids and capsules tend to make better choices than tablets for this reason, they are more soluble and will dissolve faster in the body.
