Portions and timing
The key to getting through the holidays is portion control. You can have a little of everything without piling it on. Have desert 2-3 hours after the meal rather than right away. Use the holiday as a grazing day and have it all rather than stuffing yourself with one meal. This will maintain a fast metabolism and shouldn’t hinder your future results.
Get off the mental diet. When you have the mentality of being on a diet, or off a diet, you can get hurt. If you end up falling off, there is a tendency to indulge even more so.
Do not skip meals
Many people want to save up and go in hungry to the holiday meal or party, but this is probably the worst decision that could be made regarding the metabolism. To maintain a fast metabolism, continue with the plan of 5 small meals throughout the day.
Choose the small plate
You can only fill up what you have room for. Use a smaller plate for the buffet line to maintain portion control.
Start with the healthy stuff
Every holiday party I have ever been to has a veggie platter. Have your first go-around there and load up on some fresh veggies and even some dip for flavor. Then have a holiday treat when afterwards.
