Chris received a reality check when she looked through the photos from her daughter’s first birthday party.
“I was looking at a picture of myself and thinking, ‘Who is this person?’ I had deluded myself into thinking that I didn’t look too bad, but the truth was, I was more than 30 pounds over my pre-baby weight (which was still too high by my doctor’s standards). I was struggling with joint pain in my hips, knees and ankles, and I was just plain miserable about it.”
Then, by a friend’s referral, Chris discovered the Live Lean program. She had checked into gym memberships and personal training fees, but they had seemed too steep for her budget. Through the Live Lean program, Chris found that all of the equipment that she needed was right at home and that she could afford professional training through Live Lean just by cutting out her daily Latte habit.
“My trainer makes fitting my fitness routine into my lifestyle easy. I needed flexibility. The Live programs take that into account and allow you to combine your strength and cardio workouts into longer sessions or break them apart for shorter sessions over more days. That alone took away one of the main excuses that had kept me from exercising.”
“My trainer also worked with me on setting some fitness goals that had nothing to do with the way I looked or what I weighed. Instead, I decided to give myself six months to go from couch to canyon – the Grand Canyon that is. I planned a four day hiking and camping trip with some of my friends and made it an absolute deadline. Every time I worked out, I concentrated on the canyon instead of how much I needed to lose or what size I was. It kept workouts upbeat and positive and the pounds and inches seemed to drop away. I just did the trip in June, made it in and out with no problems, and had the time of my life.”
Chris had been challenged with food issues her whole life. “In my family, we eat to celebrate, mourn, pass time, heal pain and boredom…frankly all the time.” Using Live’s nutrition plan she found that she not only felt better, but kicked several of her bad eating habits altogether.
“I used to deprive myself until I was starving and then binge on whatever was around. By following the meal plan and eating five planned meals a day, I found that I had more energy throughout the day and kicked a lot of my bad cravings altogether. It also made it almost impossible for me to overeat.”
What’s Next for Chris?
“I consider myself a work in progress. I still have both cosmetic and fitness goals that I would like to accomplish, but with Live’s program to help me along, it’s no longer a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when’ for reaching them. I’m currently training for a 5K, I’m looking better than I have in years, and my joint pain has completely disappeared. I feel fantastic.”
