If you want to add some adventure into your fitness, why not go canyoneering. Canyoneering is a multisport that includes hiking, climbing, scrambling, swimming, and in technical canyoneering repelling and rope work. Canyoneering can be done at all levels though make sure you understand what the canyon you are going in has in store for you to make sure you have the skills necessary to complete safely. The article is about how canyoneering can fit into your fitness lifestyle and not a guide book or how to book for canyoneering.
What you can find when you go canyoneering is the most fun you have ever had hiking. Finding your way through a canyon is a great way to explore parts of the world that you can only get to by getting off the trail, and are a great way to enjoy your fitness level. To get through more difficult canyons it is going to take good level of fitness. The cool thing as long as you are not in a canyon that require technical ability (get professional instruction before entering technical canyon) that with training most people can make it through moderately challenging canyons.
To stay fit for life it takes more than just weight loss goals. What happens once you reach your goal? Being able to have an experience that you wouldn’t been able to until you go into shape can be exceptionally rewarding and be the trigger that keeps you fit and healthy.
Canyoneering is a total body workout. You will need a base of cardiovascular training. Though you typically are going down the canyon which is easy from a cardiovascular stand point you will have to hike back up at some point, and I find the hike out to be the most challenging from a cardio standpoint. Next, scrambling around and over boulders takes physical strength and balance. You never know exactly what will be required though there is a good chance by the end of the trip you will feel each of your muscles including ones you didn’t know you have.
I haven’t been on a cayoneering trip yet that didn’t make me appreciate my fitness level and make me want to workout more. The outdoors allows for a perfect blend of fitness and fun that can keep you motivated and staying fit. The key to living life fit and at the weight you want is to continue to find ways to stay motivated and challenge yourself to improve. If you are ready canyoneering can be you greatest challenge yet.
